My Polk MMs didn't even fit in these pods & I had to make them deeper. In any case... is it possible you had them backwards to begin with? I never had an issue with them fitting in the dash, just fitting the speakers to the pods. I made some modifications to the faceplates, too. The bottom corner of the faceplates touch/overlap the ground screws a bit in my dash, so I cut these notches out.
